It was announced today that Deca-Medics, Inc. (DMI) was awarded a $400,000 matching commercialization grant from the Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center (GCIC). The grant was awarded to assist DMI with it's commercialization efforts of its patented CPR assist device, LifeBelt®. "We're very excited about receiving this grant as the Commercialization Advisory Committee which is responsible for selecting company's to fund includes several of the leading cardiologist in the US." says Thom Lach, President and CEO of Deca-Medics.
The Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center (GCIC) is a $250 million cardiovascular research and product development consortium made possible through a $60 million grant from the State of Ohio's Third Frontier Project. Founded in 2007, GCIC is the first Wright Mega-Center of Innovation under this program.
GCIC is led by the Cleveland Clinic and comprised of the following five leading Ohio institutions: Case Western Reserve University, The Ohio State University, The University of Cincinnati, The University of Toledo and University Hospitals of Cleveland. These academic healthcare facilities contribute outstanding cardiovascular research excellence and clinical capabilities to GCIC to promote the commercialization of new products and the creation of new companies in the State of Ohio.
